What a Week!

Argh - I would like to write about the week I've been having. There have been so many things happening!
UNFORTUNATELY, one of those things that has happened is that I managed to wipe out on my bicycle, pulling a tendon (I think?) in my wrist. As a result, I have had to have my right [...]

Long Night

Well, that wasn't so bad after all - I mean, I didn't get hardly any sleep, but I did make it through ok.

Watching it now I can see that it's really hard to tell the height of the waves in a 2D video - next time I guess maybe I should get lower to show [...]

Incoming Windstorm!

Once again, it starts.
Environment Canada has issued an advisory for tomorrow, calling for northwesterly winds of 20kn to 33kn. Two weeks ago when the massive windstorm sent seven boats up onto the beach and wrecked several more along the coastline, they weren't calling for much more than that.
I'm starting to think that Kitsilano Beach might [...]

Windstorm Aftermath

First off: I am fine. Tie Fighter is fine.
When I left for Seattle on Saturday afternoon, there were a dozen boats - possibly a couple more - floating just off of Kitsilano Beach. When I returned on Thursday, there were only two remaining in the water; Tie Fighter and a small, unnamed blue-hulled sailboat that [...]

Windstorm!

Holy crap! What a storm!
I've been down in Seattle for the past few days visiting Miya, and woke this morning to several text messages from friends asking how I fared through the windstorm last night. Currently I'm on the Amtrak bus hurtling back towards Vancouver, praying that Tie Fighter is still comparatively safe, bouncing around [...]

Knives

A few weeks ago I dropped into a show at the Lotus Sound Lounge on a Saturday night, a bit after midnight. I hadn't really planned on going to a club but I was already downtown and had friends there, so without a second thought I stopped by. When I got to the [...]

Back from Hiatus

Judging by the comments, emails and in-person needling at parties and social events, it would seem that people do in fact read my blog. I'm flattered and encouraged, and I apologize for the quiet stretch; it's been about a month and a half since my last update, and that one wasn't of much interest [...]

A Quick One

Well, I made it out of False Creek. I can't exactly say I made it unscathed, as I managed to somehow burn out (part of) my exhaust system again - but at least I'm out, and out of the immediate danger of being towed away and impounded by the VPD. Instead, now I am broken [...]

Stress

I started to write a blog post on Friday morning, but by Saturday evening the still-open browser window - the blog editor page with just the word "Stress" written in the title box - had become its own succinct review of the events of those two days. I won't bore you with the details, but [...]

The Bits In Question

It's now been about twenty four hours since "the incident", and the VPD still haven't shown up. I'm not much looking forward to their visit; it could really only go one of two ways, and those ways depend entirely on who the attending officers are. I figure they will either let me stay - though [...]
